The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for Engineer, Medium Term Planning
About the role
Reporting to the Senior, Engineer Medium Term Planning, the Medium-Term Planning Engineer is responsible for producing a safe, quality and executable 13 weekly schedule that aligns with the budget plan. This is to be completed through detailed planning, stakeholder engagement, understanding of the budget schedule, LOM capital projects and costs, dump construction and long-term strategies.
The planning engineer also ensures shorter term mining plans are aligned with the 13 Weekly, supports the senior mining engineer by ensuring that the most efficient plan can be developed, and these include the Blast Master process and monthly reconciliation process. It requires that the engineer assist the senior engineer to identify all risks to plan by communicating to key stakeholder and develop actions to mitigate such risks.
About you
The ideal candidate must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience in large scale open pit mining
- Experience in short term, medium term planning in open pit mines
- Experience in open pit mine design and waste management
- Demonstrate application of continuous improvements ideas
- Computer literate with mine planning design preferably in Deswik, MineSight and technical software (MS Projects, Flowcharting, AutoCAD) etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and ensure the 13 Weekly rolling plan is available on a monthly basis
- Provide designs for Pit, Dumps and Stockpiles to short term engineers
- Using procedures to get the job done, ensure that improvements to the procedures are captured and changes are made to controlled documents by custodian.
- Monitor medium and short term mine scheduling and pit activities to ensure activities are undertaken in accordance with the 13-week plan.
- Prepare bench development plans including expected lithology, ore blocks, and mining sequence.
- Assist D&B Engineer develop the blast master for the bench in consultation with the Production Engineer and Senior Mine Planning Engineer.
- Prepare and develop waste dump lift development plans and dumping sequences.
- Carry out planning and design work in a professional manner balancing quality with timely delivery.
- Record and document work undertaken in a professional manner, using the information to produce monthly work plan detailing work-to-date, updating any revised priorities, new undertakings, and expected finish dates.
- Perform budget and LOM studies as required.
- Review/Design Waste Dumps and Stockpiles when required
- Assist in training of new recruits and graduates who join MTP Section
- Promote environmentally sound work practices with peers, contractors and suppliers. Informing persons in work area (employees, contractors and visitors) of New Porgera’s Environmental Policy and Practices
- Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures
