Carlin - Open Pit Geotechnical Engineer I/II

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Geotechnical Engineer I/II to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in developing and guiding projects to support short and long term mine plans.

Responsibilities:
- Strong understanding and experience with open pit blasting techniques and controls
- Hands-on experience with data collection and assessment of rock mass and rock defect strength properties
- Strong understanding of stiff soil properties, anisotropy and effects on slope design
- Working competence in Rocscience suite of surface stability software programs
- Understanding of 3-D geologic model inputs and development, and impacts on slope stability
- Experience with bench scale and inter-ramp scale slope design compliance
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Clear and concise communication and liaison skills with various personnel level
Qalifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering or related field required
- 3-5 years hands-on geotechnical experience at an active open pit mine site preferred
- Demonstrated ability for developing and sustaining short term and long term projects preferred
- Supervisory experience of engineers and technicians preferred
