Job Details

A community survey has highlighted gaps in play opportunities in St Andrews for primary-aged children and high school-aged young people. You will receive training, support and guidance to deliver further Multi-Sport Activity Clubs within our brand-new sports hall, gym and FIFA-approved 3G Astro.

We aim to create a team to do this offering temporary, permanent and casual part-time job opportunities.

We need an enthusiastic, energetic individual to deliver fun and innovative sports and play sessions to children and young adults of all abilities.

Current cover is required for Monday and Thursday evenings 5.30 – 7.15 pm and/or Saturday mornings from 10am - 12pm. Apply if you are available for either or both times.

Activities run during school term time only. However, we do run activities in coordination with partners (Active Schools, Sports Development, Youth Work) over the school holidays. Normally the first week of each holiday period, 9am - 1pm. Please apply if this is the only suitable time for you due to evening commitments but not holiday periods.

We will work together to create physical activity opportunities for children and young people in the area. The ability to adapt an activity towards an individual or group needs to be your strong point.

Our core opening hours and opportunities to deliver physical activity are Monday to Friday evenings from 5.45pm - 10 pm and Saturday mornings between 9.30am - 12.45pm. Any hours worked after 8pm or at weekends are enhanced by 33%.

The Person

We understand that leading physical activity is a transferable skill across many associated fields of work. If you have experience leading, teaching or coaching general play, generic sports or specific sports then please apply.

Experience in coaching, teaching or leading physical activity in sport, youth work or play settings is essential.

Candidates must have experience in engaging with and encouraging individuals to be part of the session. An attitude of inclusion and looking for the best in individuals taking the journey towards physical activity is essential.

A full induction will be provided which will include mandatory Fife Council eLearning along with job profile-specific training i.e., Inclusion, Promoting Positive Behaviour and Child Protection.

Experience in developing and promoting a physical activity session would be advantageous.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme
