Teaching Fellow in Modern and Contemporary Art History
Grade UE07: £39,347 - £46,974 per annum, pro rata

Part time: 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE)
Fixed term: for 12 months
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed colleague with experience or potential to produce exceptional teaching in the field of Modern and Contemporary Art History.
The Job Purpose is to cover the teaching and associated duties of a senior member of staff for the 2024-25 academic year.
The start date is 16 September 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a fixed term role to 15 September 2025 and will therefore cover a full academic year cycle of teaching and citizenship duties, including undergraduate and taught postgraduate lectures and specialist courses, project and dissertation supervision.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- A PhD or equivalent qualification in the field of Modern/Contemporary Art History.
- Ability to deliver specific courses in the field as required by the teaching needs of the subject area, in particular the following undergraduate courses: HIAR10209 Contemporary African American and Black British Visual Culture (http://www.drps.ed.ac.uk/24-25/dpt/cxhiar10209.htm) and HIAR10208 Examining Exhibitions: How Histories of Modern and Contemporary Art are (Re)Made Through Exhibitions (http://www.drps.ed.ac.uk/24-25/dpt/cxhiar10208.htm)
- Ability to run a suite of guided research and/or work placements, managing relationships with host organisations and supporting students on placement.
- An enthusiastic, positive and creative approach to teaching and relationships with professional partners
- Openness to the ideas and motivations of others and willingness to work as part of a team of academics and administrators
- Commitment to the principles of academic governance and leadership by example.
