Position summary

The AME Advanced Technology leader is part of the global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team that execute the strategy and vision of Garrett product manufacturing defining the processes, methods and standards applied across plants. In coordination with Engineering, Sourcing and Plants, she/he develops, tests and validate the internal processes of Garrett Zero Emission Technologies (ZET) products, like fuel cell electric compressors, coolers, electric drive systems and supports Manufacturing Readiness Level score from ideation to PPAP (NPI Phase 0 to 5). As a technology expert, he/she assures flawless launch and focuses on process standardization related to softwares and encrypted material testing & flashing of high speed motor/generators (>20kRPM) inverters.

 

Key Job Areas of  Responsibilities                                                    
 

New Product Introduction (NPI)

• Support Advanced Manufacturing leaders for on time publication of Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) deliverables thru NPI Phase 1 to 6 and support initial
• Riskassessment on new product Manufacturability for any new technology introduction (module + lead application)
• Support NPI teams and Engineering to capture new technologies in NPI Ph1-6 and consolidate requirements
• Attend first prototype build events and report manufacturing roadblocks and opportunities for product design improvements
• Attend Phase Exits and Manufacturing Readiness Reviews with Product Engineering and Product Assurance
• Support Make analysis and development of Manufacturing Plans (process flow, kpis)
• Support initial creation of Generic Process FMEA, evaluate risks and support action plan to reduce RPN scores
• Control ODT & PPAP results
• Define and maintain documentation for technology systems and processes (Process Instructions, Quality Control Inspection)
• Define Design For Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines for new technologies and work with Product development teams to maximize DFM score
• At early development phase of products, be part of concept selection for manufacturability, ensuring maximum of standardization on product design
• Ensure optimal conversion cost of assemblies to achieve required product function and reliability targets
• Attend Component Roadmap Reviews with Product Engineering team to cascade down DFM rules & best practices

 

Innovation & New Technologies

• Evaluate, test, recommend and implement innovative & new manufacturing technologies for new products developped by Garrett
• Define the equipments and processes for Software & Encryption material flashing and testing on PCBA and Inverter assemblies
• Support development of specification book for new test systems introduction and line upgrades
• Support manufacturing test systems development with suppliers, attend design reviews and support validation of processes thru acceptance test phases
• Responsible for providing technical expertise and support to global organization and customers on technologies Software & Encryption material
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting on issues
• Conduct research and analyze data to identify new trends and opportunities for improvement

 

Position Requirements

Education / Qualifications

• M.S. in Automotive Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Six Sigma Green Belt certification minimum
• Lean Expert or Black Belt certification is preferred

 

Experience

• Minimum 8+ years of experience as Manufacturing / Test engineer in companies building e-motors inverters, ECU or control units, control panels & boards, electric & electronic consumer products, robots, …
• Ability to develop an effective project plan and control strategy for his own work
• Experience with cross functional interactions of multi skilled & cultural organization and people

 

Key Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge on: Electrical Testing, Flashing, Encryption, End of Line functional Testing, Traceability, Quality control, Digital Factory
• The position will require trips to plants / suppliers up to 20% of working time
• Capable to explain complex problem in simple words
• Demonstrated English written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of all disciplines and levels
• Effective communicator, able to drive and solve conflicting situations, problem solving & Lean mindset
• Ability to think critically and convert complex problems into actionable plans. Continuous Learning and Adapatbility, ability to train others.
• Familiar with programming using Vector systems, vFlash software, CANoE suite, decoding CAN bus protocols & messages, AUTOSAR/QNX, C++
• Familiar with test systems programing using LabVIEW systems, TestStand programming, FPGA programming.
• Familiar with ASPICE standards and ISO 26262 Functional Safety standards.
