We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join us as an Systems Engineer working in the Data and Business Intelligence Systems Centre of Excellence (CoE) Team, part of our IT Service .

You will play a key role in the IT Service as part of the Data and Business Intelligence Systems CoE, supporting colleagues across the organisation. The Systems Engineer role is equivalent to that of a Data Engineer so we would love to hear from any Data Engineers also.

 

Your role and responsibilities

  • collaborate with the team to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure
  • develop and implement solutions for data requests by using SQL queries, SQL stored procedures, PowerShell, Azure logic app, Azure Data Factory/Synapse pipelines, etc
  • implement DevOps practices to automate and streamline the data management and development lifecycle
  • troubleshoot issues and optimise performance for various data platforms and applications
  • assist in data processing, transformation, and integration for analysis and reporting
  • ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

 

You will need

  • at least 3 years’ experience working in an IT Operational support role with line of business systems and databases
  • to have work experience with Azure data platform (Data Factory/Synapse, DevOps, Pipelines, Power BI) and/or SQL data warehouse skills (SQL queries/scripting, Performance ETL, data modelling)
  • a keen interest in IT and data management principles, best practices, and a knowledge of how data can be used in organisations
  • excellent communication skills and everyday IT skills, be highly organised with a flexible approach to work and the ability to work as part of a team.

The team

  • you will be part of a busy team that provides the IT Service for SCC and Mid Suffolk and Babergh District Councils
  • our IT service provides and supports SCC`s technology requirements
  • we support colleagues across the organisation to get the most from their technology provision within a flexible working environment
  • you will be predominantly aligned with the services of data warehouse, data platforms, and Business Intelligence for all SCC directorates 
  • our office days are usually on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Additionally, we practice hybrid working.
