  • £38,223 - £40,008 per annum (pro rata for part time)

Your role and responsibilities

As a Flood Investigation Officer, you will be playing a key role in identifying ways to reduce flood risk for the people of Suffolk by:

  • investigating causes of floods and make recommendations to reduce risks
  • negotiating solutions with landowners, communities, elected representatives and other stakeholders
  • supporting property owners and communities to understand flood risk and take steps to become more resilient
  • identifying opportunities that can exemplify multiple benefits and the holistic management of water.

 

You will need  

  • to be educated to degree level or have equal experience in a relevant subject
  • experience of assessing flood risk, flood modelling or conducting investigations involving local communities and authorities responsible for flood risk
  • excellent communication skills to engage and influence a range of stakeholders.

The team 

You will be based in the Flood and Water Management Team that acts as the Lead Local Flood Authority for Suffolk. You will have the opportunity to regularly collaborate with the Environment Agency, water companies, local planning authorities, developers, the public and elected representatives to reduce flood risk across Suffolk.  

You will join dedicated staff from various council services. We are passionate and experienced in creating a better environment for Suffolk`s people. Question 4 - Tell me about a time you had to influence or negotiate with a range of stakeholders on a multifaceted issue. What skills do you have that made you successful at this task?
