JOB PURPOSE                            

The Talent Development Strategist will play a crucial role in enhancing the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of NGM and Barrick employees through strategic learning and development initiatives. This position requires a creative thinker with a passion for talent growth and organizational development.

RESPONSIBILITIES and Skills Required:     

Primary responsibilities, tasks and skills needed:

  • Design and implement comprehensive talent development programs that align with organizational goals and supports employee growth.
  • Conduct training needs assessments to identify skills gaps and development opportunities across various departments.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and department heads to develop and deliver training materials, workshops, and learning resources.
  • Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions both in-person and virtually, ensuring content is  relevant and impactful.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, adjusting programs as needed to optimize outcomes.
  • Partner with HR and management to create career development plans for employees, offering guidance  and resources for professional growth.
  • Willingness and ability to adapt, be flexible and improvise as the situation requires. 
  • Authenticity to build trust and relationships. 
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding. 
  • Ability to listen to different perspectives, encourage healthy debate, and handle difficult discussions. 
  • Objective approach ensuring meetings, sessions and classes are guided by process, rather than agenda 

or personal bias. 

  • Lead coaching sessions based on NGM coaching model. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Education, Psychology, or a relevant experience.

           

            Experience

  • Proven experience as a Talent Development Strategist, Leadership Facilitator Lead, Learning and Development Specialist, or in a similar role for five or more years.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Excellent, engaging facilitation skills, with a talent for connecting concepts and skills to the topic and the audiences.
  • Proven experience in transitioning, synthesizing, and summarizing key points before, during and post sessions. 
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and other training software/tools.
  • Ability to analyze training needs and develop targeted solutions that meet organizational objectives.
  • Proven experience in content design. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and consultative approach.
  • Certification in training or talent development (e.g., CPLP, ATD certifications) is a plus.
  • Experience in talent development within mining.
  • Familiarity with performance management processes and competency frameworks.
  • Knowledge of career planning and succession planning strategies.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting.
